Fusible crosspiece on cars Trooper/Bighorn

Fusible crosspieces are used for protection of wires. Crosspieces join consistently in such chain which wires at normal loading obviously cannot be melted off (for example, in an ignition chain). The fusible crosspieces established on cars, have distinctive colour marks, and colour of a crosspiece should correspond to a colour code of that chain which the crosspiece protects. Diameter of each crosspiece four times is less than diameter of a wire, is consecutive with which crosspiece is connected. Diameter is printed on crosspiece isolation. In engine conducting 7 fusible crosspieces are provided. At replacement the crosspiece with special гипалоновой isolation and with diameter equal to diameter of the replaced crosspiece should be established.

1. Define a faulty chain and the reason which has caused перегорание a fusible crosspiece. If the fused crosspiece is one of three to which wires with diameters of groups NN 10 or 12 it is possible to define the concrete damaged chain approach.
2. Disconnect the battery from weight.
3. Cut out the damaged crosspiece from a plait. If the damaged crosspiece concerns three chains fed with one wire cut off a crosspiece from a wire of each of chains.
4. Prepare a fusible crosspiece which on rating data corresponds fused, and a connector for connection of wires end-to-end.
5. A replacement procedure of a fusible crosspiece in group of 3 crosspieces fed with one wire:
5.1. Cut off the rests of fusible crosspieces near to a soldering place (or weldings) with a wire.
5.2. Remove isolation from two new crosspieces, approximately on 13 mm from each end. Insert two ends of a wire into a connector on the one hand, and on the other hand a connector insert a fusible crosspiece. Press out connector pads on both parties.

The prevention

At installation of three fusible crosspieces be cautious, as three wires will enter into a connector with a tightness. To press out a connector it is recommended the special tool as at обжатии бокорезами or flat-nose pliers connection will be unreliable.

5.3. After обжатия a connector with three fusible crosspieces cut off a part of a feeding wire with a site of welding (rations) and remove isolation on 13 mm from the wire end. Insert the processed site of a wire into a connector and with the big effort press out.
5.4. Attach other end of a new fusible crosspiece for what remove isolation on 13 mm from the end of a wire of that chain from which the fused crosspiece has been taken, insert into a connector and with the big effort press out. Then insert on the other hand a connector a new fusible crosspiece and press out.
5.5. Пропаяйте сращенные connections by solder with канифольной a core (recommended structure of solder of 60 % of tin and 40 % of lead). Заизолируйте an insulating tape.
6. If it is necessary to replace one fusible crosspiece protecting a unique chain remove sites of wires with the crosspiece rests, remove isolation at length of 13 mm from edges of wires, insert and press out a connector, joint places пропаяйте and заизолируйте.
7. A replacement procedure of the fused fusible crosspiece with flat накидной the plug (for example in a chain of a charge of the battery):
7.1. Cut off a joint with the fused crosspiece.
7.2. Remove isolation at length of 13 mm from the wire end.
7.3. Срастите a new crosspiece with a wire through a connector, пропаяйте and заизолируйте a junction.
8. Connect the battery to weight, check up chain work.

The prevention

Do not mix a fusible crosspiece with a resistive wire. This wire is slightly longer, on it there is an inscription "Resistor – do not cut".

9. If crosspieces join a wire of the big diameter with diameters NN 16, 17, 18 and 20 follows расплести a wire that it is reliable to fix it in a connector.
