THE GENERAL DATA

The top dead point is the highest point which reaches each of pistons during rotation of a cranked shaft. As each of pistons reaches ВМТ both at the moment of a compression step, and at the moment of a release step, with a view of engine synchronisation, for ВМТ piston position (usually the piston № 1) in the top point of a step of compression is accepted.

The piston № 1 and the cylinder are located in a forward part of the engine where there is a chain of a drive of a camshaft.

Take into consideration that the cranked shaft rotates clockwise if to look from the forward party of the car.

Definition of the top dead point of the piston № 1

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Disconnect a wire of the minus plug of the accumulator.
2. To improve access to a pulley of a cranked shaft, unscrew a guard and remove it.
3. Unscrew fixing bolts and uncover a gear belt to get access to an asterisk of the fuel pump. Be cautious and do not lose a sealing strip of a cover.
4. Using the clockwork handle, rotate a cranked shaft until the label on a pulley rim will not coincide with the index a fixing bolt. Consider that on a pulley there are some adjusting labels, but a label for piston installation in ВМТ the greatest; other labels are used for synchronisation of work of the fuel pump.
5. If the label and the index are compared correctly pistons № 1 and № 4 are in ВМТ.
6. To define what of pistons is in ВМТ at the moment of a compression step, check up an arrangement of a label of the synchronisation located on an asterisk of the fuel pump. When the piston № 1 is in ВМТ at the moment of a compression step, the label should be visible in the left part of an asterisk. If the label is not visible, the piston № 4 means is in ВМТ at the moment of a compression step. Turn a cranked shaft on one complete revolution (360 ) and the piston № 1 will appear in ВМТ.
7. When the piston № 1 is in ВМТ at the moment of a compression step the engine can be blocked in such position having inserted bolt М8 in синхронизационное an aperture of an asterisk of the fuel pump and having screwed in it in a carving aperture of a back guard.
